The Guardian Gas Gun operates on LPG (propane or butane), but propane is strongly recommended, especially for cooler conditions below 8 °C, as butane may not vaporise effectively at low temperatures.
A standard 12 kg propane cylinder provides approximately 30,000 detonations, depending on the firing frequency and ambient temperature. For typical vineyard or orchard use (with intervals set between 10–15 minutes), one cylinder can last several weeks. Always ensure that the gas regulator and hose fittings are properly sealed and inspected regularly to prevent leaks or pressure drops that could affect ignition consistency.
When replacing cylinders, close the tank valve before disconnecting, and always store spare LPG bottles upright, in a shaded, well-ventilated area away from ignition sources.
